How to downgrade your Fax.Plus plan (including Business, multiple lines, or switching to Basic)

Looking to move to a lower-tier plan, reduce the number of fax lines on your account, or switch to the Basic plan? This article covers all downgrade paths depending on your current plan.

Not sure which section applies to you? Start here:

  • "I'm on a Business or Enterprise plan with multiple fax numbers and want to reduce to one line or a simpler plan." → You're in the right place. Jump to the Business Plan or Enterprise Plan section below - the general steps at the bottom of this article do not apply to you, and you'll need to contact support.
  • "I want to downgrade from Business or Enterprise to Basic." → This is a two-step process. See the Business Plan section for the full path.
  • "I'm on a Premium plan and want to switch to Basic." → See the Premium Plan section below.
  • "I'm on a lower-tier individual plan and just want to switch to a cheaper option." → Follow the general steps at the bottom of this article.

Note: Downgrade options depend on your current plan type and billing cycle (monthly or annual). It is not possible to switch from an annual to a monthly plan while retaining your fax number. Plan downgrades must remain within the same billing cycle (monthly-to-monthly, monthly-to-annual, or annual-to-annual).

Downgrading from the Business Plan

Reducing the number of fax lines on your account

If you're on a Business plan and no longer need multiple fax lines or team members, you'll need to remove the additional members and numbers before downgrading. This is also the required first step for moving to any single-line plan (Premium or Basic).

Note: It’s not possible to downgrade from  Enterprise or Business plans to Basic plan. This is because moving to the Basic plan requires converting your account to a Free plan first, during which your fax number(s) will be released.

Downgrading Business → Premium

You can downgrade from a Business plan to a Premium plan while keeping one of your existing fax numbers. This option is not available in the app and must be done through support.

To request this downgrade:

  1. Remove all additional members from your account.
  2. Then, contact us (support@alohi.com) and provide answers to the following questions:
    • Would you prefer the Premium Monthly plan at $17.99/month or the Premium Annual plan at $167.99/year (equivalent to $13.99/month)?
    • Which fax number would you like to retain: [Fax Number 1] or [Fax Number 2]?

Note: To avoid service disruption, we recommend reaching out to us shortly before your current plan renewal date to ensure a smooth transition.

Downgrading Business → Basic

It is not possible to downgrade directly from Business to Basic while keeping your fax number. Moving to the Basic plan requires passing through a Free plan first, at which point your fax number(s) will be released. The path is:

  1. Business → Premium (via support, as above — keep one number). 
  2. Premium → Basic (via the app, if your number is eligible — see Premium Plan section below).

Downgrading from the Enterprise Plan

The Enterprise plan includes Advanced Security features and integrations that are not available on lower-tier plans. Because of this:

  • Downgrading from Enterprise to another multi-user plan (such as Business) is not possible.
  • Downgrading to an individual Premium plan while retaining a dedicated fax number is not available in the app - contact support@alohi.com.
  • Downgrading to the Basic plan is not supported under any circumstances for Enterprise accounts.

Downgrading from the Premium Plan

You may downgrade from the Premium plan to the Basic plan if all of the following conditions are met:

  • You do not have a toll-free number.
  • You are in a country that does not require a Premium plan.
  • Your number has not been ported to Fax.Plus.

If all of these conditions apply, you can select the Basic plan directly in the app using the general steps below.

General steps to downgrade (Premium and below)

Note: These steps apply to individual plan holders (e.g., Premium → Basic). If you are on a Business or Enterprise plan, contact support instead - see the relevant sections above.

If you’d like to downgrade your current subscription plan, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your Fax.Plus account, and go to the Settings section on your dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Plan & Billing tab.
  3. In the Plan Details section, click Upgrade (this will show you all available plans).
  4. Click on your current plan to view available subscription options.
  5. Choose the plan you’d like to downgrade to, then click on Confirm and Pay to confirm.
