Cancelling your paid Fax.Plus plan is how you turn off auto-renewal - there is no separate auto-renewal toggle. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you will not be billed again after a successful cancellation. As per our refund policy, subscription payments are non-refundable, even after cancellation.
To avoid your next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. Not sure when that is? See Where do I find my next billing or renewal date?
Before you cancel: check these two things
1. How you paid
- Through the Fax.Plus website or Web App (app.fax.plus), including Apple Pay or Google Pay on the website: use the steps below. This is the most common case.
- Through the iOS app or Google Play: Apple or Google manages your subscription and it must be cancelled there. See How to cancel my subscription purchased via Apple App Store or Google Play. We cannot cancel or refund these subscriptions, even if you contact support.
- Not sure? Check your last payment email. If it came from Apple or Google Play, they manage it. If it came from Alohi, use the steps below.
2. You're signed in to the account that is being charged
A plan can only be cancelled from the account that pays for it, by the account Owner or an Admin. Team members don't see the cancel option.
- More than one email address? Search all your inboxes for "Fax.Plus" or "Alohi". The address your payment receipts were sent to is the account you need to sign in to.
- Signed up with Google or Microsoft? Use the matching button on the login page - there is no separate password.
- Forgot your password? Click Forgot password on the login page and check your spam folder for the reset email.
- No longer have access to that email? See I lost access to the email used to create my Fax.Plus account.
Steps to cancel your subscription
Web App (recommended)
- Log in to your Fax.Plus account.
- Go to Settings → Plan & Billing → Plan Details.
- Click Manage Plan next to your current plan.
- Click Cancel Plan and read the cancellation notice.
- Click Cancel my Plan to finish. Don't close the page until the confirmation appears.
iOS and Android app
- Open the Fax.Plus app and go to Settings.
- Under Plan & Billing, tap Plan Details.
- Tap Manage Plan, then Cancel Plan, and read the notice.
- Tap Cancel my Plan to finish.
If the app shows an error or you don't see Cancel Plan, sign in at app.fax.plus from any browser - it's the same account and the Web App steps above will work. See also Don't see the Cancel Plan button?
How to confirm your cancellation went through
Many customers click Cancel but don't finish the last step, then are surprised by the next charge. Check both of these:
- Plan Details (Settings → Plan & Billing) shows your plan as Canceled with an expiry date, not a renewal date.
- You received a cancellation confirmation email at your account email within a few minutes. Check spam if you don't see it.
If both are true, you're done. You don't need to contact support or take any other action.
If your plan still shows a renewal date, or no email arrives within 30 minutes, the cancellation didn't complete. Repeat the steps. If it still doesn't work, contact support from your account email with a screenshot of your Plan Details page.
What happens after you cancel?
- Until the end of your billing cycle: everything keeps working. You can send and receive faxes as usual.
- The day after it ends: your account is paused. You can't send or receive faxes, but we hold your fax number for 30 days in case you return.
- Day 31: your account moves to the Free plan and your fax number is permanently released.
Changed your mind? Before your plan ends, go to Settings → Plan & Billing and click Reactivate.
"I cancelled but I was still charged"
- The cancellation didn't complete. Check Plan Details as described above. If it shows a renewal date, the plan is still active.
- You cancelled on or just before your renewal date. If the renewal and the cancellation happened within the same 24 hours, the renewal may have processed first. Contact support with your account email and the transaction date.
- You're on an annual plan. Cancelling stops the next renewal, but the current year stays paid. No refund is issued for the unused months.
- You have a second account. If the charge is on a card you don't link to Fax.Plus, search your inboxes for another Fax.Plus account under a different email and cancel there too.
- The charge is from Apple or Google Play. It must be cancelled in your App Store or Google Play account.
More detail: Why was I charged after I cancelled my Fax.Plus plan?
What cancelling does and does not do
Cancelling stops: future renewal charges, your paid features at the end of the cycle, and your fax number after the 30-day hold.
Cancelling does not: refund past charges, refund unused pages or credits, or delete your account. To delete your account, cancel first, then see Delete your Fax.Plus account.
If you only fax occasionally
You can switch to a lower plan instead of cancelling and keep your fax number. See Am I on the right Fax.Plus plan for my needs? and How to downgrade your Fax.Plus plan.
Free plan users
You don't need to cancel the Free plan - it never generates charges. You're only billed if you upgrade to a paid plan or buy credits. To remove your account entirely, see Delete your Fax.Plus account.
