When you start canceling a paid Fax.Plus Basic or Premium plan, you may see an offer to switch to Basic Lite instead of canceling completely, provided your account is eligible. Basic Lite is a reduced plan available for $3.50/month if you’re on a monthly subscription, or $42/year if you’re on an annual subscription. This article explains exactly what happens when you accept the offer - and what doesn’t - so you can make an informed decision with no surprises.
What is Basic Lite?
Basic Lite is a low-cost plan designed for people who fax only occasionally but want to keep their account and fax number active. It includes:
- Your existing fax number stays active
- Pages per month: 40 pages per month
- Sending and receiving from web and mobile apps
It is only available through the cancellation flow - you won't find it on the regular plans page. If you'd like it, see "How do I switch to Basic Lite?" below.
If I accept the offer, when does it take effect?
Your switch to Basic Lite is scheduled for the end of your current billing period. Until then, your current plan stays active with all its features - you've already paid for it, so you keep it.
On your next billing date, you'll be charged $3.50 for Basic Lite monthly plan instead of your previous plan's price or $42 for the Basic Lite annual plan.
I'm on an annual plan - do I get a refund of the difference?
No. Accepting the Basic Lite offer does not refund the unused portion of your annual plan. Your annual plan runs until its original end date - you keep everything you paid for - and Basic Lite begins after that. This follows our standard refund policy.
Do I keep my fax number?
Yes - this is the main advantage of Basic Lite over cancelling. If you cancel completely, your number is held for 30 days and then permanently released. On Basic Lite, your number stays active for as long as the plan is active.
What happens to my unused pages?
Unused pages from your current plan do not carry over to Basic Lite. Your page allowance resets to the Basic Lite allowance on the date the new plan starts.
How do I switch to Basic Lite?
- Log in to your Fax.Plus account.
- Go to Settings → Plan & Billing → Plan Details and click Cancel Plan.
- On the retention screen, choose the Basic Lite offer instead of confirming the cancellation.
- You'll see a confirmation that your plan change is scheduled for your next billing date.
If you previously went through the cancellation flow and skipped the offer, simply Reactivate the regular plan, start the cancellation steps again - the offer will be shown again.
How do I confirm which plan I'm on?
Check Settings → Plan & Billing → Plan Details. If you've accepted the offer, you'll see your current plan with an end date and Basic Lite as the upcoming plan. If it shows your old plan as "Active" with auto-renewal and no scheduled change, the switch didn't complete - repeat the steps or contact us.
