I accidentally upgraded to an annual plan but meant to choose monthly. Can I switch my billing cycle?

Once you've activated an annual plan, the billing cycle cannot be changed back to monthly. The annual plan stays in effect until the end of the 12-month period you paid for.

Why we don't switch annual to monthly mid-cycle

When you upgrade from a monthly plan to an annual plan, the annual plan is activated immediately and your prior monthly cycle is not prorated against it.

As outlined in our refund policy, we do not offer prorated refunds for subscription changes. This means the annual subscription cannot be partially refunded or converted to a monthly plan for the remaining period.

We know this can feel surprising. To help avoid it in future, our pricing page shows the annual cost in full before you confirm, and the upgrade flow displays the total amount that will be charged.

If you upgraded by mistake within the last 24 hours

If you upgraded very recently and have not used the plan, contact support at support@alohi.com as soon as possible with:

  • The email address on your account
  • The date and time you upgraded
  • A confirmation that you have not yet sent any faxes on the new plan

For genuine error cases reported within 24 hours, our support team will review the request against our refund policy. We can't promise a refund in every case, but we'll look at it.

If it's been more than 24 hours

You'll need to use the annual plan until the end of the cycle. A few things that might help:

  • An annual plan typically works out cheaper per month than monthly billing. If you'll continue to need fax service, you may save money over the year even though it's a larger upfront cost.
  • You can use your annual plan for sending and receiving faxes normally throughout the 12 months.

How to align future renewals with your needs

If you'd prefer to switch billing cycles in the future, the cleanest way is to cancel your current plan close to its renewal date, let it expire, and subscribe again to your preferred plan. Your fax number is held for 30 days after expiration, so you have a window to do this without losing your number.

Important: If you are currently on a monthly plan and you upgrade to annual, your existing monthly cycle is not credited toward the annual plan. The annual cycle starts immediately and runs for 12 months from the upgrade date. The amount you paid for the current monthly cycle stays applied to that cycle and is not refunded. We recommend timing any monthly-to-annual upgrade close to your monthly renewal date to minimize overlap.
