If you no longer need your paid Fax.Plus plan, you can cancel anytime. Cancelling stops your subscription from renewing at the end of your current billing period. You will not be billed again after a successful cancellation.
Before you cancel: which path applies to you?
The right cancellation steps depend on how you originally paid.
If you subscribed through the Fax.Plus website (app.fax.plus) or the Fax.Plus Web App: use the steps in the "Web App" section below. This is the most common case.
If you subscribed through the iOS app on your iPhone or iPad: Apple manages your subscription. You must cancel through your Apple ID settings. See How to cancel my subscription purchased via Apple App Store or Google Play. We cannot cancel an Apple subscription on your behalf, even if you contact support.
If you subscribed through the Android app on Google Play: Google manages your subscription. You must cancel through your Google Play account. Same article applies.
If you're not sure how you paid: check your last payment confirmation email. If it came from "Apple" or "Google Play," your subscription is managed by them. If it came from "Alohi," it is managed by us and the steps below apply.
Steps to cancel your subscription
Web App
- Log in to your Fax.Plus account.
- Go to the Settings -> Plan & Billing -> Plan Details.
- Click Cancel Plan next to your current plan type.
- Review the cancellation notice carefully.
- Click Cancel my Plan to finalize the process.
Tip: If you only fax occasionally, consider switching to a lower plan to retain your number - you can always upgrade again whenever you need.
iOS & Android
- Launch the Fax.Plus app.
- Go to Settings.
- Under the settings for Plan & Billing, find Plan Details.
- Tap on Cancel Plan, and carefully read the notice.
- Tap on Cancel my Plan to cancel your current plan. If your subscription was not purchased via Apple or Google Play, you can manage it directly via Fax.Plus web application (app.fax.plus)
How to confirm your cancellation actually went through
This is the most important step. Many customers click "Cancel" but don't complete the confirmation, then are surprised by the next charge. To make sure your cancellation was successful:
- Check your email. You will receive a confirmation email with the subject line confirming your cancellation, sent to the email address on your account, within a few minutes of cancelling.
- Check your Plan Details screen. After a successful cancellation, your plan in Settings → Plan & Billing will show a status indicating it is scheduled to expire on a specific date. If it still shows your plan as "Active" with a future renewal, the cancellation did not go through and you should repeat the steps.
- If you don't see the confirmation email within 30 minutes, check your spam folder. If it's not there either, the cancellation likely did not complete. Try again or contact support.
What happens after you cancel?
Once your cancellation is successful, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. To learn more about refund policy click here.
After that:
- Starting the next day, your account will be paused (inactive) — you won’t be able to send or receive faxes, but we’ll hold your fax number for 30 days in case you choose to return.
- If you don’t reactivate within 30 days, on day 31, your account will be moved to the Free plan, and your fax number will be permanently released.
Note: In addition to our paid subscriptions, Fax.Plus offers a Free plan that includes a one-time allowance of 10 pages at no cost. To activate this, simply verify your mobile number. There’s no need to cancel the Free plan, as it doesn’t generate any charges. You’ll only be billed if you choose to upgrade manually to a paid plan or purchase additional credits.
"I cancelled but I was still charged"
This is the most common follow-up question, and it usually has one of these explanations:
Most likely cause: the cancellation was started but not confirmed. Log in and verify the steps above. If your Plan Details screen still shows "Active" with auto-renewal, the cancellation did not complete.
Annual plan still in cycle: if you cancelled an annual plan after being charged for the year, the cancellation takes effect at the end of the annual cycle (up to 12 months away). You won't be charged again, but no refund is issued for the unused remainder of the year. See our refund policy for details.
Charged on the day you cancelled: if your renewal date and your cancellation date are within the same 24 hours, the renewal may have processed before the cancellation took effect. Contact support with your account email and the transaction date and we can investigate.
Charge on a different card: if the charge appears on a card you don't recognize as connected to Fax.Plus, you may have two separate Fax.Plus accounts under different emails. Search your inbox for "Fax.Plus" and check if there's a second account under a different email address.
App Store or Google Play subscription: if your charge comes from "Apple" or "Google Play," the cancellation must happen in your App Store or Google Play account, not in Fax.Plus. We cannot cancel or refund these charges.
What cancelling does and does not do
Cancelling stops: future renewal charges, your paid features at the end of the cycle, and the use of your fax number after the 30-day hold.
Cancelling does not: refund past charges, refund unused pages or credits, or delete your account. To delete your account entirely, see How can I delete or cancel my account?.
If you only fax occasionally
Before cancelling completely, consider whether the Basic plan ($8.99/month, 200 pages) would suit your needs better than your current plan. You can downgrade rather than cancel and keep your fax number. See How can I downgrade my Fax.Plus subscription plan?.
Free plan users
You don't need to cancel the Free plan. It generates no charges. If you no longer want a Fax.Plus account at all, see the account deletion article.
