Using Fax.Plus to receive faxes from the IRS

Receiving important documents from the IRS via fax? With Fax.Plus, you can securely and efficiently receive IRS correspondence right to your account—no physical fax machine required.

Whether you’re a business, tax professional, or individual, this guide will walk you through the simple steps to ensure your account is properly set up to receive inbound faxes from the IRS.

Sign up for a paid plan

To be able to receive faxes, you must first sign up for a paid Fax.Plus plan. We offer several options to suit various needs:

  • Basic, Premium, Business, and Enterprise
  • All paid plans include inbound faxing and come with a dedicated fax number
  • Business and Enterprise plans include two dedicated numbers
  • Choose between monthly or annual billing options

You can compare features and pricing on our Pricing Page. Make sure your paid plan is active and that you have sufficient credits in your account to receive inbound faxes without interruption.

Share your fax number

Once your plan is active, your dedicated fax number will be ready to use. Share this number (including the country code, e.g., +1 for U.S.) with the IRS for receiving faxed responses.

Enable notifications (optional)

Email notifications are enabled by default and will be sent each time you receive a fax—unless you’ve manually disabled this setting in your account preferences.

Check your inbox

Go to the Inbox tab in your Fax.Plus dashboard to view, download, or manage incoming faxes.
