How to Find a Fax ID and Search for Faxes Using It

Every fax sent or received through Fax.Plus has a unique Fax ID. This ID is useful when you need to locate a specific fax quickly - for example, when referencing it in support requests, audits, or internal records.

This article explains how to find a Fax ID and use it to search your Faxes.

What is a Fax ID?

A Fax ID is a unique identifier automatically assigned to each fax in your account. It looks like a string of letters and numbers (for example, 69fa0e6e414de23a4b3...) and stays attached to the fax permanently, making it the most reliable way to locate a specific transmission.

How to Find a Fax ID

  1. Log in to your Fax.Plus account at https://app.fax.plus.
  2. Go to the Faxes tab and open the Inbox, Sent or Trash folder, depending on where the fax is located.
  3. Click on the fax you want to view. This will open the fax preview.
  4. On the preview page, click the Details icon (the small information icon in the top toolbar) to open the details panel on the left.

How to Search for a Fax Using the Fax ID

  1. From the Faxes tab, open the folder where the fax is located (Inbox, Sent, or Trash).
  2. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the top-right corner of the fax list. This will reveal the search filters.
  3. Paste the Fax ID into the Search field on the right.
  4. The matching fax will appear in the list. Click on it to open the details.
  5. To clear the search and return to the full list, click Reset.

Troubleshooting

  • No results found: Double-check that you've copied the complete Fax ID without extra spaces. Also confirm you're searching in the correct folder (e.g., a sent fax won't appear in the Inbox).
  • Can't see the Fax ID field: Make sure the details panel is expanded. If you still can't find it, try refreshing the page or contact our support team.
