Fax.Plus now includes AI-powered tools to help you quickly read, extract, and reuse information from your faxes.
What are Fax.Plus AI features?
Fax.Plus AI analyzes your fax documents and helps you:
- Extract key information without manual typing
- Convert scanned documents into readable text
- Quickly access important data alongside your fax
These features are designed to improve productivity and reduce manual work — especially when dealing with forms or structured documents.
Where to find AI features
AI features are available directly inside the fax viewer:
- Open a fax (Inbox, Sent, or Trash)
- Click on the “Alohi AI” panel on the left
- Choose the feature you want to run
For Enterprise users, the feature is available immediately — no setup required
AI Data Extraction
AI Data Extraction creates a structured view of the information in your fax.
What it does
- Extracts key fields (e.g. names, dates, contact details)
- Displays them in a structured format next to your fax
- Allows you to copy values directly
- Lets you edit values manually if needed
- Supports custom fields to extract specific information
- Allows download as a JSON file
How it works
- The AI analyzes your fax and builds a structured object (fields and values)
- Results are saved automatically
- When you reopen the fax, results are already available (no need to run again)
Editing extracted data
- You can edit extracted values if something is incorrect
- Edits are saved and shared across users who received the same fax
- ⚠️ Editing does not change the original fax document
Important
- Extracted data is mainly used for:
- Copy/paste
- Review alongside the fax
- Export (JSON)
- Direct integration (e.g. EHR, CRM, API) — coming soon
- The structure of extracted data may vary unless you define custom fields
Tip: Use custom fields if you need consistent outputs (e.g. always extract “Patient Name”)
AI Text Transcript
AI Text Transcript converts your fax into a full text version.
What it does
- Generates a complete, paste-able version of your fax
- Works with printed and some handwritten content
- Preserves structure as much as possible
How it works
- Click “Text Transcript” in the AI panel
- The system processes the document (may take ~1–2 minutes depending on size)
- The result is saved and available every time you reopen the fax
Automatic Processing (Optional)
You can enable automatic AI processing for incoming faxes.
When enabled:
- Data extraction runs automatically on new faxes
- Results may already be available when you open them
AI Credits
AI features use a credit-based system.
How credits work
- 1 AI Credit ≈ 1 page processed
- Each AI action consumes credits:
- Data Extraction → 1 credit per page
- Text Transcript → 1 credit per page
Availability
- AI features are currently Enterprise-only
- All paid plans receive a limited trial amount of credits
- Enterprise plans include a monthly credit quota
- Additional credit packs are available via upgrade
Important things to know
- You must upgrade to Enterprise to purchase more credits
- Upgrading your AI package may:
- Reset your billing cycle
- Reset your page quota
- AI subscription is currently linked to your Enterprise plan

Fax.Plus AI is designed to align with strict privacy standards, including HIPAA compliance requirements.
