Documents Required for Bundle Application Before Purchasing a Fax Number in Japan

To comply with Japan’s telecommunications regulations, all customers must submit a Japan Regulatory Bundle Application along with supporting documents before a Japanese fax number can be purchased or activated on Fax.Plus. These requirements apply to both domestic and international businesses.

  1. Japan Regulatory Bundle Application
    You must complete and sign the official Japan Regulatory Bundle Application
  2. Proof of Business Identity
    You must provide documentation that verifies the existence and legality of your business.
    Accepted documents:
    • Corporate registration document: 
      • Must be issued within the last 6 months
      • Must be valid at the time of upload
  3. Proof of Business Address Your business address must meet Japan’s regulatory requirements.

    • Local Japanese fax numbers: Address must be located in the region matching the number’s prefix.
    • National or toll-free fax numbers: Address must be in Japan.
    • PO Boxes are NOT accepted.

    Accepted documents:

    • Corporate registration document (if it includes the business address)
    • If not included, provide one of the following:
      • Certificate of tax payment
      • Utility bill for the local office address
      • Bank or credit card statements are not accepted
    • Documentation must be issued within the last 6 months
  4. Business Purpose (Objectives of the Company)
    A declaration of purpose as listed in your corporate registration.
    Accepted document:
    • Corporate registration document showing the declaration of purpose
      Issued within the past 6 months
  5. Authorization of Representative
    You must show that the individual signing the application is authorized to act on behalf of the business.
    Accepted documents:
    • Power of attorney
    • Corporate registration listing the authorized representative
    • Letter on company letterhead (with company seal) confirming authorization
  6. Proof of Identity of Authorized Representative
    A valid government-issued photo ID is required.
    Accepted documents:
    • Driver’s license
    • Certificate of driving record
    • My Number Card*
    • Zairyū residency card (non-Japanese nationals)
    • Certificate of special permanent resident (non-Japanese nationals)

      * Do not upload the back side of the My Number Card.

  7. Proof of Address of Authorized Representative
    Must show the representative’s current physical address.
    Accepted documents:
    • Certificate of tax payment
    • Utility bill
      Must be issued within the last 6 months

      A non-forwarding mailer will also be sent to verify the representative’s address.
