What happens when one of my signers (recipients) declines my request?

Upon receiving a document for signature, recipients have the following choices:

  • Sign the document, and click on Done
  • Finish Later
  • Reject the document
  • Assign To Someone Else

Occasionally, a recipient may receive an incorrect version of a contract for signing. Similarly, the possibility exists that a document reaches an unintended recipient, leaving them uncertain about reassigning the signature request.

Should a recipient decline a signature request, it will stop the entire signing process and render the document void. In instances where multiple sequential signing steps are established, other recipients who have yet to sign will not receive access link emails. Instead, previous signers will be notified via email that a signature step has been rejected, resulting in the voiding of the envelope.
