Sending Signature Requests via SMS and WhatsApp in Sign.Plus

Who can use this feature?

Available on Professional, Business, and Enterprise plans.

Only Owners and Admins via Web app

With Sign.Plus, you can now deliver signature requests and notifications via SMS or WhatsApp, in addition to email. This feature ensures your recipients can access and sign documents faster and more conveniently - directly from a message on their mobile device.

How SMS and WhatsApp Delivery Works

When enabled by an account Owner or Admin, senders can choose to notify recipients via SMS or WhatsApp during the sending flow. This option is configurable per recipient.

  • You’ll still need to enter each recipient’s email address (email remains mandatory).
  • Additionally, you can choose SMS or WhatsApp as an optional delivery method.
  • You’ll need to provide the recipient’s phone number.
  • The recipient will receive a direct link to sign via their chosen messaging platform.

Privacy and Consent Requirements

Before enabling this feature, Admins or Owners must confirm that they have a proper process in place to collect recipient consent for receiving SMS/WhatsApp notifications.

Each message sent by Sign.Plus includes an opt-out link. If a recipient opts out, they will no longer receive notifications via SMS or WhatsApp from any sender on the platform.

Delivery and Reminder Behavior

  • Recipients receive the initial signature request via email and SMS/WhatsApp (if configured).
  • A recipient may receive one reminder via SMS/WhatsApp (does not count toward your quota).
  • Recipients must verify their email before signing if they access the document through SMS or WhatsApp.
  • If the signing link has expired, recipients can request a new one from the same message.
  • Once opted out, recipients will no longer receive messages via SMS/WhatsApp.

Tracking & Audit

Senders can monitor SMS/WhatsApp delivery in:

  • The Progress Modal of the document
  • The Audit Trail
  • The E-Signature Certificate, which will reflect whether SMS/WhatsApp was used for delivery

Activation & Availability

This feature is:

  • Available on Professional plans and above (disabled by default)
  • Must be activated by an Admin or Owner under the Settings section
  • Not available on Trial plans
  • Available in supported countries

Upon activation, Admins will be required to acknowledge responsibility for collecting proper consent from recipients.

Monthly Usage Quotas

The quota is shared across your organization and is based on the number of paid seats in your plan:

Plan Tier Monthly SMS/WhatsApp Deliveries (Per Seat)
Professional 10 per seat
Business 30 per seat
Enterprise 150 per seat

Example: An Enterprise account with 2 seats will have 300 SMS/WhatsApp deliveries per month, shared across all users.
