If you’re submitting a document to the INPE (Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle) in France, they may require a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) based on a qualified certificate.
Common Error Message
Votre signature n’est pas valide : Votre synthèse a été modifiée, mais n’est pas signée électroniquement avec le bon niveau de certification.”
(Translation: Your signature is invalid: Your summary has been modified, but is not electronically signed with the correct certification level.)
This error may appear if the file you uploaded was a PDF portfolio, which some systems (like INPE’s) cannot process correctly.
What to Do:
- Open the downloaded PDF in Adobe Acrobat
- If it’s a portfolio, you’ll see multiple attachments inside the file
- Extract the signed PDF file from the portfolio (usually labeled with the document name)
- Upload this extracted PDF (not the entire portfolio) to the INPE portal
