How long does porting a number from RingCentral to Dial.Plus take?

For most US RingCentral ports, the timeline is 5-10 business days from the day you submit your port request to the day the number is active on Dial.Plus.

What affects the timeline

- US-to-US ports: typically 5-10 business days.
- Toll-free numbers (e.g., 866, 800): may take 7-15 business days.
- Numbers with billing issues at RingCentral: Often delayed. Make sure your RingCentral account is current and the LOA matches.
- Numbers in extended porting backlog: During industry-wide carrier issues, ports can take 2-3 weeks.

What you submit

1. Letter of Authorization (LOA) — a signed document authorizing the port. We provide a template.
2. Most recent RingCentral bill or billing receipt — shows you have the right to port.
3. Account details — the RingCentral account number, billing name, and address.
4. The number(s) being ported.

What happens during the port

- Day 1-2: We submit the port request to the carrier.
- Day 2-5: The receiving carrier (us) and losing carrier (RingCentral) verify and validate.
- Day 5-7: A "Firm Order Commitment" (FOC) date is set — this is when the actual switch happens.
- Day 7-10: On the FOC date, the number switches to Dial.Plus and the original RingCentral service for that number ends.

Common rejection reasons

- Account number mismatch: Your RingCentral account number on the LOA doesn't match what RingCentral has.
- Billing address mismatch: Your address on the LOA doesn't match RingCentral's records.
- Open balance at RingCentral: Some balance is owed and porting is blocked.
- Number in pending change at RingCentral: A previous port-out is in progress.

If you receive a rejection, contact support@alohi.com with the rejection reason and we'll help resolve.

Important: don't cancel RingCentral until the port completes

If you cancel your RingCentral account before the port completes, RingCentral may release the number to their pool. Once released, the number can't be ported. Wait until you've received the "port complete" confirmation from us.
