Tips for great multi-page scans
Lighting: scan in good, even lighting. Avoid shadows and direct sunlight that creates glare.
Background: place your document on a contrasting surface (e.g. dark wood or dark cloth for white paper). This helps Scan.Plus detect page edges accurately.
Hold steady: keep your phone still during capture. Features like OCR (Image to Text) work best with sharp, clear images.
Consistent orientation: scan all pages in the same orientation — all portrait or all landscape. Mixing orientations can make the resulting PDF awkward to read.
Reordering pages
If you scanned pages out of order, you can rearrange them after capture:
- After capturing all pages, tap Done (iOS) or Save (Android).
- Tap More (⋮), then select Reorder Pages.
- Drag pages into the correct order.
- Save.
Adding pages to an existing scan
You can add more pages to a document you've already saved:
- Open the saved scan from your History.
- Tap More (⋮), then select Add Pages.
- Capture the additional pages.
- Save.
Saving multi-page scans
Multi-page scans are saved as a single PDF by default. Each document is given an auto-generated name (based on date or content type) that you can rename at any time via More (⋮) → Rename.
To save pages as individual images instead, select Multiple JPGs in the save options — this exports each page as a separate image file, which is useful for sharing photos of individual pages.
Sharing and exporting your scan
After saving:
- Tap the Share icon (or go to More (⋮) → Share).
- Choose how to send your document:
- Email - attach and send directly.
- Sign.Plus - send for electronic signature.
- Fax.Plus - fax the document (if Fax.Plus is installed).
- Other apps - share via WhatsApp, Slack, or any other app on your device.
Troubleshooting
Pages aren't being detected automatically
- Improve lighting and increase background contrast (dark surface behind white paper works well).
- Tap the Shutter button manually to bypass auto-detect.
Scan quality is poor
- Adjust your distance from the document - move closer to fill the frame or further back if the page is being cut off.
- Wipe your camera lens.
- Check that Scan.Plus has camera permission in your phone's Settings.
App crashes during multi-page scanning
- Update to the latest version of Scan.Plus.
- Restart your phone and try again.
- Try scanning fewer pages at a time - some older devices have memory limits that can cause instability with large scans.
