Using Multiple Fax.Plus Accounts with Azure (Microsoft Entra ID) SSO

Who can use this feature?

Available on the Enterprise plan.

Accessible to Owners and Admins on Web App.

Some organizations may require more than one Fax.Plus account — for example, one account for HIPAA-compliant users and another for non-HIPAA users. While it’s not possible to connect multiple Fax.Plus accounts to the same Azure SSO portal, you can set up separate Azure instances to achieve this.

How It Works

  • You can create two installations/instances of the Alohi app in Azure.
  • Each Azure instance can then be linked to a different Fax.Plus account (e.g., one HIPAA, one non-HIPAA).
  • This setup allows your organization to manage users across different compliance needs while still using Azure SSO.

Important Considerations

  • Unique emails required: The same email address cannot be used on both Fax.Plus accounts. Each user must have a unique email per account.
  • User conflicts: If a user is assigned to both Azure apps, it may cause issues with SSO authentication. Carefully manage which users are linked to each instance.
  • Separate management: Each Fax.Plus account will need to be managed independently in Azure (e.g., configuration, user assignments, permissions).

Recommended Setup Steps

  1. In Azure, create a new instance of the Alohi app for each Fax.Plus account you want to connect.
  2. Assign the correct users to each Azure app instance based on their compliance requirements.
  3. Link each Azure app instance to its corresponding Fax.Plus account.
  4. Test SSO access to confirm that users can log in without conflicts.

Tip: For organizations with both HIPAA and non-HIPAA users, keep account membership and user assignments clearly separated to avoid login issues. Use consistent naming conventions in Azure (e.g., Fax.Plus – HIPAA and Fax.Plus – Standard) for clarity.
