Fax.Plus is a secure cloud‑based fax service rather than a program you can install locally, so you can’t simply download it and run it on your own servers. That said, you have several ways to control where your fax data is stored:
- Build your own storage integration with the Fax.Plus API – download faxes and archive them on your own infrastructure.
- Use a custom Amazon S3-compatible object storage – for high‑volume customers, we can deliver faxes directly into your S3 bucket.
-
Choose a storage region with our data residency feature – select the jurisdiction that meets your compliance needs.

Build your own storage integration with the Fax.Plus API
If you want full control over your fax documents, you can integrate directly with the Fax.Plus API. Enterprise customers can generate a personal access token and use it to list faxes, retrieve each file and save it to their own servers or private cloud. Whether you’re moving away from a POTS line or a legacy fax server, or transitioning from an efax or other online fax solution, this approach lets you implement on‑premises data storage that fits your needs. If you prefer zero retention within Fax.Plus, you can turn off the “Store faxes in Fax.Plus” setting in your account; faxes will be delivered to your email sever and can be fetched via the API for archiving elsewhere. For technical details, see our API documentation. -
Use a custom Amazon S3-compatible object storage
For businesses that process large numbers of faxes and don’t want to maintain their own integration, we provide an ability to connect your own Amazon S3-compatible storage. In this setup, our platform uploads each fax document into an Amazon S3 bucket that you own. This gives you a scalable, low‑maintenance repository that can handle high volumes without sacrificing control. It’s a great option for organisations that need reliable S3 integration without building their own code. Please contact our sales team to learn more. -
Choose a storage region with our data residency feature
If your priority is compliance with local regulations, Fax.Plus Enterprise plans allow you to pick the region where your encrypted fax archives are stored. Available locations include the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, and Australia, among others. This data residency option lets you meet privacy requirements while continuing to use our hosted service.
For instructions on authentication and using the API, please refer to our Fax.Plus API documentation. If you’re interested in connecting a custom S3 storage or need help determining which option is best for your organization, our support team is here to assist.
Sometimes the biggest concern is simply where your data is stored. Fax.Plus Enterprise plans allow you to specify the geographic region for your fax archives, such as the US, Canada, Switzerland, Japan or Australia.
This helps you satisfy local privacy regulations while still using the convenience of a hosted service.
You can find more detailed guidance, including authentication steps and endpoint descriptions, in our Fax.Plus API documentation. If you have questions about the custom S3 option or need help deciding which approach is best for your organisation, please reach out to our support team.
