Who can use this feature?
Available on Business and Enterprise plans.
Accessible to Owners and Admins on Web App.
The Fax.Plus app for Microsoft Teams lets you receive instant notifications for incoming and outgoing faxes directly inside a Teams channel or chat.
Before you start
- You must be on a Business or Enterprise Fax.Plus plan.
- You must be an Owner or Admin on your Fax.Plus account.
- You need permission in your Microsoft Teams workspace to install apps and add a bot to a channel. If your organization restricts app installations, ask your IT administrator to approve Fax.Plus in the Teams admin center.
Step 1: Install the Fax.Plus app for Microsoft Teams
- Open Microsoft Teams.
- Click Apps in the left sidebar, then search for Fax.Plus.
- Click Add to install the app. You can also install Fax.Plus directly from Microsoft AppSource.
- Choose where you want to add the app:
- Add to a team: to post fax notifications in a specific channel.
Add to a chat: to post notifications in a private or group chat.
Step 2: Link your Fax.Plus account
Once the bot is added, you need to authenticate so it knows which Fax.Plus account to send notifications from.
- Open the Fax.Plus channel.
- Click the Sign in button shown by the bot in its welcome message.
- You will be redirected to a sign-in page. Enter your Fax.Plus credentials and authorize the app.
- Once authenticated, the bot will confirm that your Fax.Plus account is linked to this channel/chat.
Step 3: Configure your notification preferences
After signing in, configure what kind of fax events should trigger a notification.
- In the channel or chat, type @Fax.Plus connect.
-
You will be redirected to the web page to authorize the connection
Note: Each channel or chat is linked to a single Fax.Plus account.
Step 4: Test that notifications are working
To make sure everything is set up correctly, send a test fax from your Fax.Plus account or ask a colleague to send you one. Within a few seconds, you should see a notification appear in the Teams channel or chat where the bot is installed.
Each notification includes:
- The sender or recipient number
- The status (received, sent successfully, failed)
- A direct link to view the fax in Fax.Plus
- The fax document as an attachment (if you enabled this option)
Manage notification settings
In your Fax.Plus settings, go to Faxing, Notifications. You can customize the behavior of the notifications sent to Microsoft Teams
Managing or removing the integration
- To change the channel where notifications are posted, remove the bot from the current channel and re-add it to the new one, then sign in again.
- To uninstall the app entirely, go to Apps in Microsoft Teams, find Fax.Plus, and click Uninstall.
Troubleshooting
- "You don't have permission to use this app" — Your Fax.Plus account is not on a Business or Enterprise plan, or you are not an Owner/Admin on the account.
- No notifications appear — Make sure the bot is signed in (@Fax.Plus status) and that at least one notification type (received/sent) is enabled.
- The app isn't showing up in your Teams app store — Your IT administrator may have restricted third-party apps. Ask them to approve Fax.Plus in the Microsoft Teams admin center.
